Alas, it's just me, now.The handymanrick.com business is owned by myself alone; Rick Hanson. For a few years, it was Al Vico and I. Al was great. We had a lot of fun and did all kinds of damage ... I mean work ... but then Al retired. And I occasionally called upon my brother, Sonny Hanson, whenever his skills were required, but that was then and now is now. Sonny is fully retired and wants to spend all his time on his hobby. So today you're stuck with just ... me! Lucky you! I work independently as a handyman to stay active and healthy, and to feed my hobbies without dipping into my retirement portfolio. It is fair to note that my varied background and experiences allow me to operate a handyman business professionally with emphasis on warmth, friendship and fun. Be fore warned ... I often talk to myself or whistle while I work. It could be genetic ... Dad did that, too. I was born and raised in Martinez, CA, and am a US Navy veteran. Dad was a carpenter, builder and real estate broker, so I learned the fundamentals of construction and property management early on. The US Navy taught me electronics and computer repair, and college taught me business, management and computer programming. With a BA degree ('77 California State University at Hayward, CA) I took over the management of his father's brokerage, focusing on property management and maintenance. Yet with the rise of the microcomputer in the late '70s I changed my career to more high-tech ventures, including on-line technical support, manufacturing, sales and service as the owner of Club 100, on-line since 1983. (www.club100.org) I earned an MBA ('86 John F. Kennedy University, Orinda, CA) and proceeded to teach information systems management and small business at the college level for ten years but never received tenure. I left teaching when my on-line business thrived in the early '90's and the need for web development started. I pursued each, quite successfully, and thus was able to retire in 2000 with a modest investment portfolio. As a side note: I became a Rotarian in the mid-'90s and donate to Rotary regularly. My hobby is building hot rods and customs (www.zoomie.com). |
